Lake Cottage in Shrewsbury, MA

This lake cottage in Shrewsbury, MA underwent a complete transformation with a stunning kitchen remodel that created a modern, open-concept space perfect for both daily living and entertaining. To achieve a seamless flow between the kitchen and adjacent spaces, we removed load-bearing walls and relocated windows and doors, opening the entire area for better natural light and a more spacious feel while maintaining the home’s cozy lake-cottage charm.

We installed Wolf Classic maple cabinets in a crisp Island White finish, featuring soft-close doors and drawers for a sleek, quiet operation. Floating shelves were added for open storage and display, blending functionality with minimalist style. At the center of the room, a large functional island provides generous prep space and seating for bar stools, creating a casual gathering spot and a focal point in the layout.

The countertops are crafted from Carrara White Honed Marble with a clean pencil edge, and the same marble extends behind the stove for a cohesive backsplash feature. The remaining backsplash showcases classic 3x6" white subway tile with bright white grout, creating a timeless look that pairs beautifully with the cabinetry. A Vigo stainless steel undermount sink is seamlessly integrated into the marble, complemented by a Kohler Sensate Touchless Pullout High Arch Faucet for hands-free convenience and modern style.

For lighting, we added LED puck-style under-cabinet fixtures to illuminate work surfaces and enhance the ambiance. Storage was elevated with a rolling barn-style pantry door, adding rustic character while saving space. Finally, new hardwood floors were installed and finished to highlight the natural beauty of the wood, bringing warmth and balance to the crisp cabinetry and marble surfaces.

This lake cottage kitchen now blends rustic charm with modern design, resulting in an open, airy space that’s as functional as it is inviting—perfect for lakeside living and entertaining.
