Basement Remodel in Ashland, MA –
High-Performance Materials & Custom Craftsmanship
Basement Remodel Ashland, MA: This custom basement remodel by CORE Remodeling Services, Inc. blends thoughtful design with high-performance materials to create a sleek, functional lower-level living space tailored for everyday use and entertaining. The design features 12-inch-deep JSI cabinetry finished with stainless steel rod handles, topped with 3cm polished Misterio Pental Quartz. A striking waterfall edge detail allows the quartz to flow seamlessly from the countertop down to the floor, adding a bold architectural statement to the space.
Throughout the basement, Karndean Antique French Oak luxury vinyl plank flooring was selected for its realistic wood appearance, durability, and performance in a below-grade environment. Overhead, Calabasas crown moulding—measuring 5 inches high with a 2½-inch projection—was installed to conceal Philips Hue White and Color LED accent lighting, creating subtle ambient illumination. The lighting system is controlled by five programmable Lutron Caseta smart dimmer switches, while 24 recessed LED fixtures provide consistent, full-room lighting.
Trim carpentry was carefully detailed to maintain continuity with the existing home, including the installation and finishing of new doors, base molding, and matching architectural elements. A straight oak handrail was added along the basement stairway for both safety and visual cohesion. To enhance comfort and sound control, Acoustiblok 16 soundproofing was installed across the entire ceiling plane. All walls were finished with Benjamin Moore ADVANCE Interior Paint in a satin sheen, delivering a smooth, durable surface suited for high-traffic living areas.
A custom-built bench was also constructed to provide additional seating and integrated storage, enhancing both function and usability within the space.
At the basement entrance stairway, the existing carpet, railings, balusters, and stair components were fully removed to allow for a complete hardwood stair upgrade. The remodel included the installation of a new maple landing tread, unfinished Brazilian cherry stair treads, primed risers, and skirt boards. Five 6½-inch unfinished cherry newel posts were installed, along with primed square balusters, cherry rosettes, and cherry railings on both the upper and lower stair sections. All cherry components were finished with clear polyurethane, while the risers, balusters, and skirt boards were painted semi-gloss white to create a clean, classic contrast.
This project highlights CORE Remodeling’s commitment to craftsmanship and detail, seamlessly combining technical upgrades such as soundproofing and smart lighting with custom woodwork and premium material selections to elevate the basement into a refined, highly functional living space.
