This custom basement remodel by CORE Remodeling Services, Inc. combined thoughtful design with high-performance materials to create a sleek and functional lower-level living space. The design includes 12-inch-deep JSI cabinetry finished with stainless steel rod handles, topped with 3cm polished Misterio Pental Quartz in a striking waterfall edge that flows to the floor.

The flooring throughout the space is Karndean Antique French Oak luxury vinyl plank, chosen for both its beauty and durability. Overhead, Calabasas crown moulding (5” high with a 2-1/2” projection) was installed, concealing Philips Hue White and Color LED accent lighting. The lighting system is powered by five programmable Lutron Caseta smart dimmer switches, while 24 recessed LED lights ensure full illumination throughout the basement.

Trim carpentry included the installation and finishing of new doors, base molding, and details that closely match the existing home style. A straight oak handrail was added along the basement stairway for safety and continuity. For added acoustic control, we installed Acoustiblok 16 soundproofing across the entire ceiling plane. All walls were painted using Benjamin Moore’s ADVANCE Interior Paint in a satin finish, providing a smooth, durable surface.

We also constructed a custom bench to enhance seating and storage solutions within the basement.

At the entrance stairway, we removed existing carpet, railings, balusters, and stair components to prepare for a full hardwood upgrade. The remodel included installation of a new maple landing tread, unfinished Brazilian cherry stair treads, primed risers, and skirt boards. Five 6-1/2" unfinished cherry newel posts were installed along with primed square balusters, cherry rosettes, and cherry railings on both upper and lower sections. All cherry wood components were finished with clear polyurethane, while the risers, balusters, and skirt boards were painted semi-gloss white for a clean contrast.
